What to expect when visiting Lysaght
Welcome to Lysaght
Hello, and welcome to the Lysaght Institute. Lysaght has played an important part in the history of Newport and is firmly linked to Newport's illustrious steel making heritage. Over the years Lysaght has seen many challenges and faced many obstacles, from two World Wars, to industrial action and most recently, the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic.
Housekeeping
There are some housekeeping rules that we would be grateful if you could take some time to familiarise yourself with:
- Fire alarm - testing is completed first thing on a Thursday morning — if the fire alarm should sound, please make your way to the nearest safest exit and make your way to the fire assembly point in the main car park. Please make a member of staff aware if any of your guests are mobility impaired.
- Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted anywhere within the Lysaght building. For those guests that wish to smoke, they can smoke on the balcony (ballroom guests only) or at one of the two designated smoking points outside.
- Please take a moment or two to familiarise yourself with the layout of the room, where the fire exits are and take notice of the fire safety actions on the wall.
- Please do not obstruct our fire exits and escape routes or prop open any fire doors.
- There are bathrooms located on the ground and first floors for guest convenience.
- Free Wi-Fi is available for everyone to use, please speak to a member of staff who will be more than happy to help you get connected.
- All electrical equipment that you bring in must have an in-date PAT certificate. The management team reserve the right to decline the use of uncertified equipment.
- In the event of any emergency, please make a member of the Lysaght team aware.
- If you require first aid, please immediately make a member of the team aware and a first aider will be sent straight away.
- If you have any issues, concerns, queries, or questions, please come to main reception, or call 01633 284911
