We are delighted that you are considering Lysaght for your special day. Whether you are planning a traditional style wedding or something a little different, we have everything to make your day special for you and your loved one.

We offer a selection of special packages for your unique wedding experience. We plan your special day to not only meet your individual requirements, but to also reflect your personality and your budget. 

Wedding planning is so exciting, but it often brings with it a host of questions. Here are some of the questions we most commonly get asked, of course, our friendly, knowledgeable team are always on hand with any question you may have. 

Can we get married at Lysaght? 

Yes you can! Both our Lysaght Suite and Ballroom are registered for wedding ceremonies. The Lysaght Suite can accommodate up to 66 guests and the Ballroom 180.

Do we need to book the registrar?

Yes, we are unable to do this for you. Please contact the Newport Registry office who will be able to help you.

Are we able to provisionally hold a wedding date?

Yes, we can hold a wedding date for seven days. To secure your wedding date we require a £100 booking fee which is non-refundable. 

Can we provide our own food? 

We do not allow external catering here at Lysaght (except for a wedding cake) but we do have an experienced, passionate in house team that are dedicated to creating beautiful food for you and your guests to enjoy and we are able to cater to all dietary requirements. 

Can we offer guests a choice menu for the wedding breakfast?

We offer a set menu to all our guests, one starter, one min and one dessert. However, all dietary an special requests can be catered for. 

Do you offer corkage?

Yes, we are pleased to be able to offer corkage on wine for the drinks reception and for table wine only (spirits not permitted). This is priced at £8.00 a bottle and includes the use of Lysaght glasses.

Can we provide our own evening entertainment? 

We are happy for you to provide your own evening entertainment. They must be able to provide us with an in date, valid public liability insurance certificate and an in date, valid portable appliance test certificate. We will request this from your supplier no later than one week before the event. This is to ensure that everything is in order and the certificates are here held on file on the big day. 

Can we use our own decorator?

Due to guests unfortunately being let down in the past, we now only allow Lysaght approved suppliers to decorate your wedding day. We have a long established relationship with lots of different wedding suppliers from the local area. If you need advice or guidance please speak to a member of the team.

Can we use candles?

Yes but you are only allowed to use battery operated lights and candles.

How long do we have the venue space for and when can we decorate? 

The time that Lysaght is available to decorate for your wedding day will be dependant upon other events that may be booked in the same space leading up to your wedding. Sometimes a group is able to access the room the night before; others will have access on the morning of the wedding.

Do you offer children's meals? 

Yes we do offer children's meals for our younger guests. One choice for main and one for dessert must be chosen for all of our little guests. All dietary requirements are catered for. 

Are we allowed confetti?

Yes of course, however it must be biodegradable confetti, you are also allowed to use petals in stead of confetti. However, they must both be used out doors

Are we allowed fireworks?

Unfortunately, due to the location of the road we are not permitted to have fireworks or fire lanterns.

When do you need final numbers and payment?

Final payment is due 30 days before your wedding date. The team can advise you of when this is, they can also provide you with a schedule of payments and  full breakdown should you require it. Final numbers for guests, which must include any food and drink requirements, including special dietary requirements must be given 7 days before your event. The events team will remind you of this date.

Is Lysaght able to cater or wedding evening parties? 

Yes we are. We offer an array of packages for evening only parties

What time is closing time?

The venue closes at 12 midnight and we recommend that those guests that require taxi's to pre-book them as they can often become busy. The events team on the night will be more than happy to help you with this. Last orders at the bar is 11:15pm and the bar closes at 11:30pm. We are able to apply to Newport City Council for an extension to this license (fee payable). If you think you  might like an extension, please let us know as soon as possible so we can submit the application. We will let you know if the application is granted or not. If an application is refused, this will not affect your original booking. 

Do you allow guests to park overnight?

Guests are welcome to leave their cars overnight. However they do so entirely at their own risk.

Do I need to provide my own security?

No, Lysaght have their own security that the booking office organises for each event.
